Martin Tuazon is actively involved in the Filipino American Student Association and the Associated Students of Mechanical Engineering at his home university. In his essay, Martin links his passion for engineering to his Filipino-American identity, tracing his interest back to his two grandfathers, both engineers who immigrated to the U.S. and worked for Boeing. He credits them with instilling in him an "engineering mindset" based on discipline, resourcefulness, and a commitment to community service. He is currently interning at Tuazon Engineering, where he works with his father in the consulting and fire protection industry. Martin sees engineering as a culture that aligns with his heritage and hopes to not only grow his technical skills but also learn more about his background.

















Ian Europa was one of the youngest researchers accepted as a lab apprentice at the UW lab studying protein synthesis and purification. He hopes to work on research on developing treatment for Alzheimer's as well as other related diseases.

Rex was awarded this recognition in 2018. He graduated from Sammamish High School in Bellevue with a GPA of 3.9. He was the President of the Environmental Warriors Club and was a member of the National Honors Society, recipient of the Best in Science and a writer for the SHS- STEM Club Weekly. He was a Camp Orkila Counselor and a KCLS Library Math Tutor.

Awarded in 2017, Kimberly graduated high school with Summa Cum Laude honors for academic excellence.

Anna is a 2014 graduate from Moanalua High School. She graduated as a Summa Cum Laude, with a cumulative GPA of 3.98. In college, she was the Recording Secretary of the Seattle University chapter of IEEE Eta Kappa Nu Honor Society. She was also a student leader for InterVarsity (IV) Christian Fellowship.
