About the Inhinyerang Iskolar Scholarship Program

The Association of Filipino-American Engineers of Washington (AFEW) is thrilled to announce the application opening for our annual Scholarship Program, featuring the prestigious "Inhinyerang Iskolar" Award—a dedicated space designed to elevate, empower, and champion the next generation of Pinay engineering leaders!
At AFEW, our mission is to inspire engineering leadership and innovation while promoting pride in our Filipino-American cultural heritage. Launched in 2022 through the personal commitment and "radical generosity" of AFEW Past President #8 Lourdes Domingo and her close peers, the Inhinyerang Iskolar Award specifically honors female students who excel in the classroom while embodying the spirit of resilience, high integrity, professionalism, and leadership.

This scholarship will be awarded during this special event, providing not only financial support but also an invaluable opportunity to stand alongside and connect with a vibrant community of Filipino-American engineers and professionals who are ready to champion your journey.
Are you eligible? To apply, you must:
- Be a current resident of Washington State.
- Be currently enrolled in a university STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program. Please provide proof of enrollment.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of a 4.0 Scale or equivalent. Verification will be required.
- Submit a compelling 500-word essay responding to the following prompt: "The Inhinyerang Iskolar Award is born from a commitment to elevate and empower female engineers who demonstrate exceptional leadership and strong values. What inspired you to pursue engineering, and how do you envision your future contributions elevating the field? Please highlight how the core values of resilience, integrity, and professionalism guide your current achievements and future aspirations."
While not required, we also welcome optional letters of recommendation that can further highlight your qualifications and potential.
